How to Manage Corrective Actions

Corrective actions (also called CAPA — Corrective and Preventive Actions) are the tasks you raise to control hazards or prevent incidents from recurring.

Actions can be created in three ways:

From a hazard detail page:

  1. Open a hazard
  2. Scroll to the Actions section
  3. Click Add Action — the action is automatically linked to that hazard

From an incident detail page:

  1. Open an incident
  2. Scroll to the Actions section
  3. Click Add Action — the action is automatically linked to that incident

Standalone (manually):

  1. Click Actions in the sidebar
  2. Click Create Action

SteadyOn uses the hierarchy of controls to classify actions:

Actions follow a four-stage workflow:

Open → In Progress → Completed → Verified
  • Open — action has been created and assigned; work not yet started
  • In Progress — assignee is working on it
  • Completed — assignee has finished the work
  • Verified — an Admin or Owner has reviewed and confirmed the work is done

Change the status using the dropdown on each action row in the list view, or from the action detail page.

Note: Only Admins and Owners can move an action to Verified status. This provides a two-person sign-off on closed actions.

Use the filter bar at the top of the Actions page to focus on what matters:

  • Filter by status using the chips (Open, In Progress, Completed, Verified)
  • Filter by Priority using the dropdown
  • Filter by Source (from a hazard, incident, or manual)
  • Sort any column by clicking its header

Overdue actions (past their due date and not completed) are highlighted in red and shown in a separate section at the top of the list.

If an action cannot be completed by its due date:

  1. Open the action
  2. Update the Due Date to a new realistic date
  3. Add a Note explaining the delay
  4. Notify the responsible person

Avoid leaving actions open and overdue — your dashboard BRAG will turn red and remain red until they are resolved.
