How to Use Public Incident Reporting
SteadyOn provides a public reporting link — a URL you can share with anyone so they can report an incident without needing to sign in to SteadyOn. This is useful for:
- Workers who are not SteadyOn users
- Visitors, contractors, or members of the public
- On-site QR codes in common areas
Find your public reporting link
Section titled “Find your public reporting link”- Click Incidents in the sidebar
- Your public reporting link is shown near the top of the page:
www.steadyon.biz/report/[your-code] - Click the link to preview the public form
Share the link
Section titled “Share the link”You can share the link in several ways:
- Email or message — paste the URL into an email, Slack message, or WhatsApp
- QR code — use any QR code generator (e.g., qr-code-generator.com) to create a printable QR code pointing to the link; print and display in the workplace
- Intranet — embed the link in your company intranet or safety noticeboard
What reporters see
Section titled “What reporters see”When someone visits the link, they see a simple form asking for:
- What happened
- Where and when
- Their name and contact details (optional)
No sign-in required. The report is submitted anonymously if they choose not to enter their details.
How submitted reports appear in SteadyOn
Section titled “How submitted reports appear in SteadyOn”Public reports appear in your Incident Register with status Reported, just like incidents created by your team. You can then:
- Review and edit the details
- Add investigation notes
- Link to a related hazard
- Raise corrective actions
Change your reporting code
Section titled “Change your reporting code”Your public reporting URL includes a unique code. You can change this code if you ever need to revoke access to the current link (for example, if it was shared too broadly).
- Go to User Settings
- Find the Public Reporting Code setting
- Generate a new code — the old link immediately stops working
