Tutorial 5: Track Training Records
In this tutorial, you will add training records for a team member, understand how the training BRAG works, and see how the dashboard surfaces expiring certifications before they lapse.
Time required: 10 minutes
Prerequisite: Tutorial 4: Schedule an Inspection
Background: Why track training?
Section titled “Background: Why track training?”Under the HSWA 2015, you must ensure workers have the necessary training, knowledge, and experience to do their work safely. This includes keeping records of completed training, first aid certifications, forklift licences, working at heights training, and any other role-specific qualifications.
SteadyOn provides a central register for all training records, with automatic expiry tracking so you are never caught out with a lapsed certification.
Step 1: Open Training
Section titled “Step 1: Open Training”- Click Training in the left sidebar
- You will see two tabs:
- By Person — shows all training records grouped by team member
- By Certification — shows records grouped by certification type
Step 2: Add a training record
Section titled “Step 2: Add a training record”Let’s add a First Aid certification for a team member.
-
Click Add Record in the top right
-
Fill in the form:

Certification:First Aid— select from the category list

Step 3: Understand training status
Section titled “Step 3: Understand training status”Each training record has a status that SteadyOn calculates automatically based on the expiry date:
| Status | Meaning | BRAG |
|---|---|---|
| Current | Expiry date is in the future (beyond warning window) | 🟢 Green |
| Expiring Soon | Expiry is within your warning window (default: 30 days) | 🟠 Amber |
| Expired | Expiry date has passed | 🔴 Red |
| No Expiry | Record has no expiry date — does not expire | 🔵 Blue |
SteadyOn refreshes these statuses automatically every day, so you never have to manually check dates.
Step 4: Check the By Certification view
Section titled “Step 4: Check the By Certification view”- Click the By Certification tab
- You can now see all team members who have first aid training, when it expires, and its current status
This view is useful for planning — you can see at a glance whether your required number of trained first aiders is current.
Step 5: See training on the dashboard
Section titled “Step 5: See training on the dashboard”- Click Dashboard in the sidebar
- In the Today’s Focus panel, any training records with Red or Amber BRAG will appear here
- The Compliance Status section shows your overall training compliance score
Step 6: Try the gaps view
Section titled “Step 6: Try the gaps view”SteadyOn can show you which team members are missing certain required certifications.
- In the Training module, look for the Training Gaps link
- This shows a matrix of people versus certification types, highlighting anyone who has a gap
