Tutorial 4: Schedule an Inspection
In this tutorial, you will schedule a General Workplace Inspection, understand how inspection templates work, and see how scores and BRAG status are calculated.
Time required: 15 minutes
Prerequisite: Tutorial 3: Report an Incident
Background: Why regular inspections?
Section titled “Background: Why regular inspections?”Regular inspections are one of the most effective ways to identify hazards before they cause harm. They also provide documented evidence that you are actively managing your workplace — important for audits, insurance, and regulatory compliance.
SteadyOn includes built-in inspection templates covering the most common inspection types, plus the ability to create custom templates for your specific workplace.
Step 1: Open Inspections
Section titled “Step 1: Open Inspections”- Click Inspections in the left sidebar
- You will see the Inspections register
Step 2: Schedule an inspection
Section titled “Step 2: Schedule an inspection”- Click Schedule Inspection in the top right
- Choose a template from the dropdown:
- Select General Workplace Inspection
- The title automatically fills in from the template name; you can change it if needed
- Set the Scheduled Date — pick a date in the next 7 days
- Assign an Inspector — select yourself or a team member
- Click Schedule
The inspection now appears in your register with status Scheduled and a 🟢 Green BRAG (it’s coming up soon). As the date approaches or passes, it will move to Amber then Red.
Step 3: Open and complete the inspection
Section titled “Step 3: Open and complete the inspection”-
Click the inspection title to open it
-
You will see the checklist organised into sections:
- Housekeeping & Access
- Equipment & Machinery
- First Aid & Emergency
-
For each item, mark it as:
- ✅ Pass — the item is satisfactory
- ❌ Fail — the item needs attention
- N/A — the item does not apply to your workplace
-
Work through each section. For any item you mark as Fail, you can:
- Add a note explaining the issue
- Raise a corrective action directly from the checklist item
-
When all items are reviewed, click Complete Inspection
Step 4: Understand the inspection score
Section titled “Step 4: Understand the inspection score”After completing the inspection, SteadyOn calculates a score based on the pass/fail/N-A results:
Score = (Pass items) ÷ (Pass + Fail items) × 100%N/A items are excluded from the calculation.
The score determines the final BRAG status:
| Score | BRAG |
|---|---|
| 100% | 🟢 Green |
| 80% or above | 🟠 Amber |
| Below 80% | 🔴 Red |
Your pass threshold can be adjusted in Organisation Settings under the Notifications tab. If your organisation requires a higher standard, set it to 90% or 100%.
Step 5: View your built-in templates
Section titled “Step 5: View your built-in templates”SteadyOn includes these built-in templates out of the box:
| Template | Category |
|---|---|
| General Workplace Inspection | Workplace |
| Fire Safety Inspection | Fire Safety |
| Equipment Inspection | Equipment |
